tit should work fine in place of your old drive if it's a sata drive and to replace the old one remove the hard drive cover or access panel

Please try again later.You should be able to, not sure what generation HP laptop you have but you should be able to remove the screws on the bottom side of laptop, you will need torx screw driver bit set. From there you will need to pry open the cover, do not use anything like a screw driver to pry it as you can damage your laptop. Once opened you will disconnect the battery first then you can remove the old SATA drive and install the new SSD drive. I would go to HP's Website for your particular model to see how to do it and also confirm your model as well.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Sure! But it would be used to replace you existing HD as there is only room for one drive at a time inside a laptop. If you buy a portable case (USB 3) you could install the SSD in it and simply plug it into your USB on the laptop and then you can use it for storage, programs or otherwise. Hope this helps. If you are to replace your current HD (a SSD is way faster than a mechanical HD), you would have to use a diskcopy program and transfer your OS and current data from old to new. I used Partition Master Suite. One more option is buy a USB to SATA cable and plug it is nude so to speak. This cable would also be used to transfer you data from old HD to new.
