These days all windows laptops are coming with digital licenses so if your pc is fairly new, all you need to do is install this hard drive and use a pre downloaded install version of the windows let it activate by checking the bios it self.

Those only come in new PC's or Laptops so configured. But you can image your current computer's HDD or SSD into this new SSD to speed up your system. You'll need freeware software and a USB to SATA cable to perform this upgrage. Hope this helps

However, you purchase it and take it to a computer repair shop that does cloning. They will clone your old hard drive onto this one and it will as if nothing has changed. All your files, software and so on will be and work just like before. With one difference. Your speed will be blindingly fast compared to an old mechanical drive.
