A simple solution to your dilemma is to pick up a SATA to USB converter and plug the drive into the USB 3.0 slot. Here is an example to search for : USB 3.0 Type A to 2.5" SATA III HDD Adapter. You can pick this up for around $10 to $20 and use it on any devices with USB 3.0 interface.
