Yes, and even if you have trouble with the software there are some free replacements available. You should have no problem.

It should work with any os. I currently have it connected to a Linux server. I formatted it to NTFS so I can move it between my windows box and linux server without problems.

Yes, the WD driver loads when you connect to the pc.
