“Running out of space and looking for compatibility with the Xboxone. Would anyone recommend this for gaming?”

I bought this for my Xbox One S, it will work well for your Xbox One. Just plug it in to the USB in the back of your console, set it up as storage and you can download a lot more games. You can utilize this to expand your Xbox one storage beyond the basic 500GB.

I'm currently using ti for my PS4 and it's working well. I don't see why it would'nt work for the xbox1.
