What is the life expectancy of this hard drive null

1 to 4 years in my experience. Continuous use with video results in the low end and normal use on the high end of expected life span.

I have had smaller version of this unit for years and never had a problem...until a MAJOR Window 10 update literally destroyed it so it wouldn't back up. I actually did find articles about that.... Now, I am very careful to disconnect the drive during updates or when the computer is not in use! No point in powering the drive when you are not backing up anything...
