“Daughters old laptop is a Mac and her new one is a Dell. If I purchase this external drive will she be able to download her pictures from her Mac and be able to view/print from the Dell since they’re different operating systems? Thank you”

Yes! It is very easy. Just plug it into the Mac, move the pictures to it then plug it into the other PC and move them to it!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The drive is formatted for Windows by default so once you connect it to the Mac it will be formatted for Mac and can't be read by Windows. You can reformat it for Windows once you are not using the Mac any longer, but that will delete any files on it. Typically USB flash drives are formatted neutrally so they can be read by both Mac and Windows. Depending how much file space you need this may be a better solution, or even uploading the files to a cloud service like Google Drive so the Dell can download them.
