If you are using it only for Linux then the preferred file system for Mint would be ext4. If you are going between windows and Linux Mint I would suggest formatting it as NTFS which I believe should work fine in Linux Mint. I have only used this specific drive in a windows environment so I cannot say for certain it works, but I’d be surprised if it didn’t.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Most likely it’s compatible. However the drive is formatted to NTFS out of the box. Highly probable a reformat will be necessary to work with Linux unless the Linux system has the capability to read/write to NTFS drive volumes.
