This works great with my with my Windows 10 system with USB 3.0 connection. Just plugged it in and it was ready to go. Its not blazzingly fast since internally it uses a spin drive. But its great to be able to easily transport up to 4TB of data. Included cable is around 12 inches in length. Be aware that since this is 4TB it is formatted with NTFS and is a GPT not MBR drive. Older operating systems may not recognize it so just FYI. 2 year warranty. It comes with Discovery software for Windows and Mac but if you go to WD site there is a lot of software you can download for backup, etc. Its a tad chunky but still can be carried in a shirt pocket. I use it to store movies and its quick enough doing transfers. Also included was a SanDisk (WD owns them now) 32GB easystore thumb-drive, which was a nice throw-in for the price. It comes with secure access software but I did not use it. Most of my internal drives have been WD and have had years of great use with them. Have not had WD portable drives before so will see how it goes. All in all a nice drive.....

I needed to take files from two older external (mechanical) drives and this external drive met and exceeded my expectations, it's fast (USB 3) and takes up very little desk space.

I love this small Portable 4TB External Hardware for my Laptop Computer because I don't have to worry about connecting a big external hard drive that uses a power cord. I can connect it using a USB port on my laptop computer giving power and saving my Important files. It also included with a free 32 GB flash drive.

Brought this on thanksgiving (80$) just for additional back up , got3.7 TB actual size. Come with spare 32 pen drive , but it come with only one port. It’s small and light just fit on palm, less sound as compare to My old Toshiba 1 TB. Serve my purpose on windows as well as Ubuntu OS. Surely recommend for backup purpose

The transfer speed could be better but overall Ive had a decent experience using it. Its been an year now and it never corrupted or anything. Its decently priced too for the amount of storage you are getting.

First, no instructions--only a multi-language small print folded piece about "Binding Arbitration." When first plugged in, "malfunction" message that seemed to mean one of my USB ports; however, that port works fine with camera, phone, recorder, etc. Without instructions, don't know what "Discovery" is (I don't have or want the Cloud), and have no idea what "Windows backup" is. Does it mean the OS will be backed up? Or my files? Or all my software? Doesn't really matter because I will be returning it.

While this external hard drive will work with almost any computer, the small size is more portable and uses the laptop's USB plug to both power it and transfer data back and forth. It gets good reviews and is not too expensive. It is good to back up your data/pictures/documents etc. Everyone should have one of these unless you subscribe to a cloud service or have multiple hard drives mirroring each other.

    Perfect Extra Storage

I put this drive into use immediately upon receipt. The included in the package, which is quite small, is the drive itself, the connecting cable, and a rudimentary, fold-out sheet of instructions in several languages. The instructions are unnecessary, as setup is extremely simple. Connect one end of the cable to the drive and the other end of a USB port. There's only one way to connect the cable, as you will discover. Wait a few minutes for plug and play to recognize the device and pretty soon it shows up on Windows Explorer (or, as I use it, Q-Dir, with the next consecutive drive letter assigned. Presto, about 4tb of extra space. I use a Targus AWE55US Chill Mat Cooling Stand under my laptop, and this drive fits in the void between the top and bottom of the stand and butts up against the fan. The cable is easily routed to an adjacent USB port. It's small enough to be easily portable in a briefcase, purse, laptop bag. or the pocket of your cargo pants.

    Solid External Hard Drive

There isn't much to be said here. This external hard drive may not be an SSD, but it's just as good as any other hard drive out there. It's external, so you'll want to get a case to protect it unless you have a way of doing that already. After all, external just means more fragile. There is of course also a spinning disc inside so there are moving parts, yet another reason to be cautious with handling. But so far I've had no issues using this with my MacBook. You just have to re-format it to work with the Apple ecosystem and you're good to go. The size is awesome and considering I got it on Black Friday, the deal was amazing for $80. Plus, throw in the free 32GB flash-drive and I'm sold. I bought two of them and have not regretted it.

    WD 4TB Easystore works well!

I was looking for an external USB 3.0 high-volume storage device to offload all my media onto from various drives accumulated over many years. The Black Friday deal I found on this at Best Buy along with a $25 Best Buy discount coupon purchased with points from doing online surveys made this deal the most attractive. The drive came with a 32GB USB 3.0 stick in the box. Nice little bonus, which I appreciated. Is it the fastest? No. But it is fast enough to stream any of my content through my Mac. I reformatted it for all computers, Mac or PC - ExFAT, and started filling it. This is probably NOT the drive for someone wanting to use it for online gaming or video editing. It is not a 7200RPM drive of the type needed for such high-performance use. Each time a batch of file transfers are completed, I eject it, noting that the drive light remains blinking, telling me the drive goes into sleep mode. Therefore, I eject AND disconnect it when not in use. I suggest you do the same. How long will it last? There is a two-year warranty from WD. After that time, I will buy another, as I don't want to lose ANYTHING if I can prevent it. There is no guarantee that the drive will last two years or 10 years. New drives can fail. Old drives might live a long, long time. I do not like to take chances pushing the odds. I will find another deal and get another. Having ONE backup is like having no backup at all. So I will have TWO and be done, for now. I added the free Plex server software to my Mac, as you can to to your Mac or Windows PC. Then, I set up the software to scan and include all the media on my Mac as well as on this external drive when connected, of course. Look it up! Next, I added the Plex app to my Roku. Now, I can stream over my home network from Mac to TV through Roku virtually ANY video or audio file, so long as the drive is attached to my Mac. My Mac as well as Roku are hard wired to my network freeing Wi-Fi for other uses. Did I need 4TB? Probably not, but what the heck, the cost was not much more than for the 2TB and this way I have room to grow. I still have not had the time to aggregate, transfer and organize all my movies and family home videos and photos. Who knows, maybe I WILL need all this storage space! And this was my objective. Mission accomplished at a very reasonable cost.

I've been buying WD Passport external portable hard drives for years, so I was anxious to try out their Easyshare drives. The Easyshare is just as small and lightweight as the Passport I purchased the 4T drive, and it still amazes me that something that holds so much data is small enough to fit into a briefcase or backpack. It's plug-and-play, requiring no formatting, so it's easy to use, and I was not only lucky enough to find this unit on sale, but in a special bundle that included a free 32G flash drive. Will buy more of these drives in the future.

This a great option for a portable hard drive. It's small enough to be portable but large enough that it's not prone to getting lost, runs about as fast as you could expect from a disk drive, and so far has run reliably without issue. The extra little USB is a nice bonus, and while it feels pretty cheap it's come in handy a few times. I've definitely gotten worse freebies with purchases.

This drive works great. It's reasonably fast. I use it for storing fairly large files. It has been reliable for me so far. It Doesn't get hot when doing large and long file transfers. There is plenty of room so you don't have to empty it too often so sometimes I do wind up moving a lot of data when I do clear it out. I have been very pleased with it.

I got this on black Friday and for the price I paid it was totally worth it. Basically you have 3.63 terabytes free of space to use and it comes with some WD software for backups. I haven't used the software, I just do it myself whenever I need to back up something so I can't comment on how good it is or not. I have 5 1TB WD My Passport and never had any problems, so I hope this one is as good as those. My wife has thousands of pictures, family videos, school event etc. so I have it on all those drives. I was skeptical to get a big one like this but I hope it lasts like the other ones. Just for a safety measure, I have everything backed up on two drives, so if one fail I won't lose everything. Small footprint, tons of space and quiet, you can't ask for more.
