Yes, on my Mac i used Disk Utility to format in Fat32 and then transfer music and video to any platform. Just don't format in Mac OS extended. All should be good. Disk Utility is easy to use. In Utility folder.

These units come formatted NTFS from the factory so you may need to reformat as not all Apple products support this. It is no issue if you just connect it to the windows computer and move the files to the windows computer over the network the Apple website has instructions on how to share files between computers over the network. MS probably does too. You need to grant the permissions to allow it. It is pretty easy to do You should be able to use the USB ports though you may need the software installed from the Apple store. Not sure as I never tried it that way. The network method works fine for me.
