• Yes, that’s how I currently use mine. You cannot store PS5 games on it though, you can only store PS4 games on it

• Yes it should work, from what I gather. However, what you can actually do with an external hard drive on a PS5 will be different from how it worked on PS4. You can't play PS5 games from the drive, from what I can tell, but PS4 games should work, though. But Sony might change their firmware later on (I'm writing this answers in March 2021).
