It has a Micro-B 3.1 plug on the device. It comes with a Micro-B 3.1 cable to regular USB. Of course you can also use a regular micro-USB cable to USB. As far as a MacBook Pro, it depends on the model. I have a 2013 Model so it does have USB and thunderbolt plugs. If you have the new one, you would have to get an adapter from Micro-B 3.1 (or micro USB) to USB-C. Dollar General has lots of cable and adapter suggestions.
