Yes, you can use the usb drive as an installation tool to install win 10 on new drive or update older version.

Please try again later.I purchased this thumb drive in order to save some picture and some documents that I have on a computer than runs Windows 10 and then to download them onto another computer that also runs Windows 10. Saving the pictures and the documents from a Windows 10 computer worked just fine. And downloading the pictures from the thumb drive to another WIndows 10 computer also worked just fine. I don't have any experience using this thumb drive to update the windows 10 system.\ Hope this helps.

If you want to upgrade the OS via USB flash, in that case, you have to check the OS file size and boot order. You may need to make this USB Flash drive bootable in order to upgrade the windows 10.
