It comes pre-formatted as NTFS. Option is ex-fat format. WD DISCOVERY exe application is already on the HDD. The WD 8TB EasyStore HDD's are 3.5 inch, 5,400 rpm with 256MB cache. However, if from China might get 128MB cache. Look at the bottom side of box carton where the Purchase Bar Code, Part Number is and hopefully it will say Made in Thailand as that is what you want. If it's made in China chances are you'll get a HDD with 128MB rather than 256MB cache.
