Yes but the read and write speed will not be as fast as a installed hard drive. Also does your board have 3.0 USB ports? It's bacwards compatible to 2.0 USB. But yes it will work.

It may seem I’m being pedantic, but they’re two different things and people will sometimes say memory when they mean storage. This will expand storage, not memory. So if her drive is full, this is a good option.
