as of this moment easystore is better because they use better quality hard drives. and yes, you can use it on any computer you wish.

WD hard drives require reformatting in order to use on a mac (easily Googled & executed) and the only difference between the two is portability. The MyBook stays in my backpack, and the EasyStore stays at home. If you're looking for some serious space, go EasyStore.

In answer to the second question, it really depends on what you are using it for. As a time machine backup, or USB attached backup drive, it is great. I had some issues trying to hook it up to my airport base station, but that may have been because it did not come automatically formatted for mac. I didn't try the drive after I formatted it, since I already had a mybook drive attached to the airport already. If I remember correctly, I had the same issue with the my book today start with as well, so there should be no real difference in the drives. I hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, this drive is Mac compatible. If you want to use it with the native Mac format, you must reformat it. Disk Utility will do that just fine. I've read many more positive reviews about the western digital easystore than the my book models. I bought an 8TB easystore a month ago - so far no problems!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The 8 TB Easystore is compatible with a Mac. But I had to format the drive in the ExFat format in order to mount it on a desktop. The first time I plugged the drive into my iMac and saw that it did mount on the desktop. Then I realized it was formatted as NTSF for Windows. I went into Disk utility, saw the drive and started the format as a Mac drive. One second into the format, it failed and the drive would not mount ever again! I had to connect it to a Win 10 PC in order to format it as EXFat. That takes along while !!
