1. It should not have any issues with your laptop. (USB is universal) 2. No it does not performed auto backup. You will need software for that. No, this does not have cloud capabilities, WD myCloud would, it does not have USB abilities, only ethernet. It would recommend if you are needed cloud back-up then consider google drive 15gb free account. You can download the PC Backup and Sync from Google Drive, and it will back-up your files very similar to Dropbox but 15gb free rather than 2 gb. Generally most people do not have more than 15gb of files that are essential. The Backup and Sync PC application performed incremental syncs, so when a file is change, it is automatically sync to cloud immediately. This is the back options, some thing that do not need incremental sync, just take the time to perform once and forget about it.
