This drive comes initialized as an NTFS drive which post dates XP and is not recognized by XP. You would have to reinitialize it as an MBR drive and then reformat it but the problem is that XP can only address a maximum disk size of about 2TB. There used to be ways of tricking XP into being able to use all the space on 3TB and 4TB drives by creating additional partitions but I don't know if that works anymore. Basically, I would not recommend buying this drive for use on Windows XP.
