As long as your XPS desktop is SATA capable, which most are. Gold is the top line of drives from WD. They are most reliable & best built. They are enterprise class drives, meaning techs use them is Servers because of their stability & reliability. Gold wont have the read/write speed WD Blacks have, but they will certainly last longer & if you've ever suffered a HDD crash... you know how important stability is. It should be an easy HDD swap in a Dell XPS, but of course you'll need to re-load your OS - so make sure you have a means to do so.
