This 14 T drive is rather new, so I can't attest to its longevity. I do, however, have several of the other WD My Book drives, and they have been in constant use for a number of years, the oldest probably around 8 to 10 years. I've never had a problem with any of them. They also have a feature in the WD Drive Utilities software that checks the drive and can tell you if there are any potential drive failures.
