• Yes, It will work with windows 7, just plug it in your USB port and hook up power and your OS will see it.

• Yes. It can be used with any OS. You may want to remove the WD software on it to gain a little more control over the unit (simply format it once you receive it). The built in software is useful if you want to use it to run backups, otherwise, it simply gets in the way.
