• No - It has to be formatted for one device or the other. As soon as you plug it in, is requires formatting.

• Yes, but it depends on the file system. If you want to use it with both a Mac and Windows, you would need to format it with exFAT. If this is outside of your scope of comfortability, this may not be the drive for you.
