Yes. But, you will lose the data in about a year when the drive fails. Purchase another brand, and not seagate either. That is unless you are prepared to transfer the hard drive to a case with a fan. Seagate will outlast a WD if it is being cooled better. They have over heating issues, but are constructed better internally. WD drives are just pathetic internally. They use parts which are known to fail often.

So you need to research and see if there is a model designed for your imac's operating system. This device can store anything from your computer and do regular backups, either on the device or on a cloud through Dropbox.
