I currently have 700 movies on a 4 TB drive. You should have no problem with an 8TB drive.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Typical DVD (Not Blu-ray) = 4.7GB 4.7GB x 500 = 2350GB =2.35TB So 500 should fit. 8000GB/4.7 GB= Roughly 1702 DVDs. Plenty of room for DVDs. You may have to reformat it though, since some formatting schemes don't allow files as big as a DVD image. Also, if you have Blu-rays, which are much bigger, you won't be able to store nearly as many ( roughly 10-20x bigger).
