It will work. Be aware that if you just hook it up to your PS4 and format it, you will not be able to copy videos or music to the device, you can only put PS4 applications on it. I would describe this hard drive as loud. Not outrageously loud, but I was surprised. I have a WD elite 2TB external HDD hooked up to my PS3 - and this HDD hooked up to my PS4, and the elite is practically silent. (The elite is USB 2.0). Hope that helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes you can put the 8TB on the PS4. I put one of my 4TB MyBooks on the PS4 with no problems. If you had your drive previously password protected like I did the PS4 will not be able to format it and it won't tell you why either. So make sure you get rid of the password protection first. This drive does require a power source too.
