“I want to set this up, then place it remotely hooked to a UPS in my basement. Does this have to stay connected via ethernet to my computer to work or is it wifi capable after set up? I've read the Q&A and the help file but does not answer this.”

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It does not have WiFi so it needs a hard wired Ethernet connection to your network. I have it connected to a mesh device which I use for several devices to a wired connect in a remote part of my house.
