QuestionBecause it is mirrored Raid 1 does that mean only 2 TB usable space or is there two 4TB drives for a usable 4TB total?

- Answer So I can't see which product you asked the question on only that it's similar to the product I purchased. So If the unit has 2x2TB drives in RAID 1 you get just under 2 TB of usable space. If you configure them in RAID 0 you would get about 4 TB of space. So if the information says you have 2 TB of space in RAID 1 it means both drives are 2 TB and they are just mirroring. I hope that helps.

QuestionIs this usable as home NAS or isn't it? One reviewer says no, but that seems to disagree with specs. Simply, can I set up share folder(s) for use by all the computers on my home windows network ? Is there restriction on type and number of shared files?

- Answer It is a NAS but shares are not allocated on a device basis but to users. You can map the volume on multiple network computers. Shares, unfortunately, cannot be size-limited and you can create folders but their content depends on user discipline.

QuestionHi, I have Apple Mac and 2 MacBook Airs, one with Windows 10. Intended use for the WD My Cloud Duo 4TB is back up pictures, videos and documents from all three computers and 2 x iPhones. Can the Duo 4TB work with all my devices? Thanks

QuestionI’ve read in a couple of places that this device is ONLY usable when connected to the internet. Is it possible to use this on my local network only and disable access to the outside world?

QuestionThis being Raid 1 if a HDD fails can the HDD be replaced and have the new HDD rebuilt with the redundant data? Is it hot swappable?

- Answer Yes, you can replace the drive and because the raid controller was already set in RAID 1 it will automatically replicate the data back.
