• Yes, there are quite a few external Hard Drive models that run on power - instead of relying on USB power. I actually prefer these myself and have a few of them. If you are looking for Western Digital (WD), I would take a look at the "My Book" model or the "WD Elements Desktop" Seagate is another model, the "Expansion Powered drives" Another one is "G-Drive" (no relation to google). These will plug into an electrical source - another cord that connects to your computer using USB. These are larger, not small little drives you can fit in your pocket. The USB powered "Passports" are nice, they are perfect to take with you if traveling.
