I have been using Samsung Televisions for about 7 years now with interfacing external hard drives, both portable and wired, with the Samsung built in media players. However, Samsung, as with ALL brands of televisions are still currently limited to reading an playing up to a 2 TB (2,000 GB) hard drive. If you want to interface your television with say a 3 TB or 4 TB hard drive one must use a computer with media player software to accomplish that.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm not positive, but there could be two possibilities to consider. First, does the HD work on other platforms? If Windows only, is it possible that it's formatted in a way that is inaccessible to the Samsung OS? Next, is the TV providing sufficient power from the USB port in order to properly power up the HD? If not, it will not function properly.
