• Hello LEANNA, Please be informed that once you copy or download the data to the external drive then the data will present on the drive. However western digital recommend to keep a second copy of the data which on the drive. • It’s there until you delete it. The only difference this and your internal hard drive is the fact that this one is connected by cables. Whenever you want the data, you just have to plug it in.
