This drive will be able to be used to store PS4 games to be played on PS5, but it will NOT be able to store PS5 games. Sony stated this in their hardware presentation. The only expansion drives that will be able to store PS5 games are certain NVME SSDs. Sony intends to release a list of verified NVME drives that offer enough bandwidth to support their custom drive controller later this year or early next year.
