Quick time should work fine.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I may have misunderstood or didn't frame question correctly. I want to copy movies onto this ext drive from my macbook to include iTunes HD Movies that I would take DRM off of. Then with "some" app on iPhone, connect this ext drive to my iPhone using a USB to Lightening adapter. The app would allow me to see the movies on the drive and play them thru the USB cable on my iPhone. I don't need wireless, so don't need to purchase the more expensive wireless version of this. And the WD Cloud app on App Store says it only works with the My Passport wireless. The movies would be mp4/m4v format. I just don't know if the iOS app for the wireless will work on this drive and allow my iPhone to see and play the movies. Thanks
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is not the hardware rather the media format your file is in. For iOS you need MP4/M4V then you can watch on the device (load files into iTunes). I just completed a project of ripping ~400 DVD/Blu Ray into iTunes and now I can watch on any of my devices or stream in my home or sync to a mobile device for offline viewing
