The software is on the drive.  You see it when you set it up.  One note, I was going to do it later after I finished the initial project, but I don't know how to get back to it afterwards,

Hi Hank, The WD My Passport Ultra 2TB External USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive features built-in 256-bit AES hardware encryption for password protection. To enable and manage this feature, you'll need to install the included WD Security software. This software is provided with the drive and can also be downloaded from Western Digital's official website.
