Absolutely. That is the whole point of this device. I use it for my GoPro footage. What's cool about it is that it doesn't need a laptop to transfer the files from your SD cards. When you get back home, just plug it into your Mac or PC and you should be able to download directly from this device.

But after having this drive for a few months, the best advice I can give is don't make this a primary drive, there a lot of reviews online about issues with SD cards and this device. Have a secondary place to backup your files. My device was broken after 5 months. My baby girl removed my cord in the middle of a large transfer and it never worked again. Take my advice, have a backup, and WD support is horrible!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.yes, has a builtin SD slot, you power it up and the drive will transfer your pics. Then at home, plug it in and it is a regular hard drive. It can take awhile to transfer based upon the size and number of images on the SD card.
