It's a WD Black HDD so it will be using CMR.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Any portable drive bigger than 2TB is SMR as there are no 2.5" drives above 2TB without SMR technology, it's required to produce them. WD Have changed the entire black lineup to be SMR anyway, even the 500GB/1TB WD Black drives have been SMR for many years now.
