• I don't believe you can use a surge protector strip on it for it does not have the 3 pronged plug holes. Just has the 2.

• As long as your two lamps don’t draw more current than what the Wemo is rated for it should work fine.

• I think it depends on whether or not you want each device to have its own schedule. If not, then only one smart switch is needed, and you would simply plug the power bar into the smart switch.
