“If I set up the Smart Plug schedule to go on at sunset and off at sunrise using the WeMo app then does the app have to stay running or is the schedule saved in the Smart Plug?”

You don’t have to keep the app running. I have some lights set up that way.

No you do not need to keep the app open. It will run whatever you program it to do even when you or away or your phone is off.

Hi, Bob, When the rules are created, they will be stored in a text file called Rules.DB. A copy of the Rules.DB file lives on every Wemo device on the network as well as on any Wemo Apps used to control those Wemo’s.
