A:Answer A tv only has a QAM tuner if it says it does. Digital TV's that can receive over the air / antenna digital signals use an ATSC tuner, but cable signals need a QAM tuner for digital, non-settop box tuning. ALL digital reception tv's must have ATSC, but QAM is optional, so you must look for it separately. If the TV does not have QAM tuning, you must use a set top box ahead of the TV.
