No it should start whisking as soon as you place the batteries
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.We got this TV a couple of weeks ago and have had issues with the remote also. We found we have to aim it directly at the sensor at the bottom of the TV. Even then there is still issues occasionally. It won't bring up the menu right away, or it won't select whichever option right away. We think it's just a very poor quality remote. One thing we know for sure, is it has to be aimed directly at the sensor. You can't be off to the side or above the tv.

So you can either call the Westinghouse directly and they should send you a new one or you can return the product to Best Buy & get another TV in its entirety. Also the remote does not have to be connected in anyway, shape, or form. Hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Could be a issue with programming the TV remotes and the TV . I’d contact the store and get another remote or return the TV. The remote numbers are tiny. We are considering a universal remote for a sight impaired relative
