“We bought this TV for my daughter's dorm room that has cable. (not cable box, just coaxial plug) During set up it searches for channels and ends up with NOTHING! HELP!”

this tv (and most westinghouse, emerson, insignia, element, RCA, magnavox DO not have QAM - they say they have a digital tuner but technically they have ATSC/NTSC - these require a cable box that you can purchase from best buy or rent from cable company. Basically these cheaper models do not have the electronic guts you need. I have been purchasing for my hotels and B & B and have learned ALOT: only LG, Samsung, Sony, Vizio all of these have QAM.

Then you can receive locally broadcast OTA (Over The Air) tv channels. This tv does not support QAM so it cannot receive cable tv from any cable tv supplier. This TV can also be used as a computer monitor. The TV has both VGA and HDMI inputs for this purpose. Then whatever movies etc are available online Netflix Amazon prime etc can be watched. This TV has a really excellent HD picture-as good as my LG smart tv. The sound is adequate (not bad) from the TV speakers. You can also plug computer speakers into the ‘headphone’ output (3.5 mm) and the sound is very good. Having said all that I like this TV a lot. Yes its a good TV as long you understand the above
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I am having this problem also. The setup says it is not recommended to use just coaxial cable but says it will work. The Model Specific instruction manual for WD32HB1120-C also says the TV can be set up this way but it does not work. Westinghouse Customer service says not to worry they will help, but they were no help. They said it will not work without the cable box. I don't know how they get away with putting in writing that this TV will work without a cable box and saying over the phone that I am out of luck. They offered no solution and it is too late to return this. Was hoping someone here had a better answer.

Try checking with the university to see what steps you can take. My university was able to help and it worked just fine all school year.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.If you have digital cable TV, won't work. It doesn't have a conversion unit in it. Either get a HDTV antenna, streaming unit, or digital cable converter box
