The legs are 14.5 inches apart. The legs themselves are each one inch wide, making the total base width 16.5 inches. Hope this helps. LInda
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This is not really an answer but rather a clarification: There are three answers to this question and they are all three different by quite a bit. From 14.5 to 16 to 20 inches apart. In that the entire width of the tv is 28.7 inches wide and the legs look pretty close to the edge, I'm thinking 20" is closest to being correct but also seems low? And a comment to Best Buy and/or television manufacturers: Since you are now choosing to cut costs by removing the center stand and adding two small edge legs, putting the "how far apart are the legs" dimension in the specs is mandatory if you expect someone to purchase a tv for use on a stand, which is not always as wide as the tv. Obviously relying on customers to supply answers is not useful as these example shows! When I called best buy about this they said "they don't recommend putting tv's on stands that are narrower than the television because someone might walk by and knock it off". Umm... thanks... but mine is up against a wall and I'm willing to take that risk rather than go out and buy a wider stand when the one I have is perfectly fine. How about not putting the legs to close to the edge of the television AND supplying this spec if you want to sell more tv's? I ended up this endeavor buying my mother something entirely different for Christmas and not from Best Buy.
