“When the TV is turned on does it always load the Home screen ? As I use Dish and when I turn on tv/dish I would expect that to come on without having to go through Home Apps stuff ?? Thanks”

Yes, it loads the home screen by default, you can change it in setting to load which ever HDMI port you want to come on first.
