You are going to want to attach to the wall. The television is thin and scary being on top even on a hard floor. It just isn't safe without a brace to the wall.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Matt, using your TV on carpet will be fine. Your unit comes with one set of Tipping Restraint Hardware Kit. You must install the Tipping Restraint Hardware between the wall and the TV console to prevent any accidents or damages.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have mine on medium pile carpet and it seems really sturdy (had it for about 2 weeks now). We have a cat that jumps up and down on it and never even wobbles or threatens to tip. I'd say you are good to go.
