I used brackets to extend the upper mounting points for mine and was able to get just under 8"... You'll have to make some measurements and use some brackets on the back of your tv to get the mounting points lower. It's tricky but can be accomplished. I was able to get 4 more inches height from the original setup so another 4 is achievable but just be careful and make sure everything is secure and it doesn't cause a tipping hazard.
