“I notice there is no button on this model to turn the turntable off. Will it hurt the turntable mechanics in any way if I use a 9 X 13 or any large pan and the turntable continues to spin under it while my pan hits the sides?”

Lunchlady, the turntable motor will continue to operate if there is a large pan on the turntable. If operate the microwave with a large pan, it will damage the inner cavity and turntable motor.
