The automated fan only starts up when the heat below the microwave is too hot. There is no way to override this automated fan. It shuts down after temp sensor in microwave finds internal temps below the upper limit.

I don't remember reading about that and I have never had it turn on automatically in the couple months I've had it. I think I've been though all setup options and don't recall there be an option to have to turn a feature like this on. You might want to stay away from this model anyway since this hi-tech model is very buggy. You can see my full review for more details.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hello sandman, when the fan comes on automatically it will not go off till the unit is cool enough. It is coming on to keep the control panel cool. So it will shut off automatically when it feels that the controls are cool and unfortunately, cannot be shut off manually. Thank you for your inquiry on our Whirlpool appliances.
