it is convertible, it can vent either way!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm a novice but I found that most microwaves have all three vent options - front, top, rear. I had to remove about 4 screws, pull out the motor, and place it back in to face the rear. It arrived with the fan vent blowing upwards. It was easier than I thought. If you do or do not have a kitchen vent, most microwaves allow you to adjust where it vents out the stale air. One other note, if you hire a professional, they will do it for you.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You have three options for venting - back, top, or front / recirculate. The back and top options are for when you have a duct running to the outside and you want the air to be blown outside, and this is probably the best as it removes humid, smelly, smokey, etc air from area. The "front" option does blow the air out the top as you asked, and of course this means it is really only taking it from the bottom of the unit to the top, though through the filters which could be ok but not preferred. To change between these options you have to remove a few screws and rotate the blower motor into the right configuration. This is covered in the installation instruction manual.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. In the self venting configuration, the air vents out of the top just behind the door frame.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. It vents out the front top. If you choose to vent externally, the fan can be turned to vent out the top or the rear of the unit
