Hi skatermom, we do not recommend using an extension cord. We also recommend this unit be plugged into an outlet that has its own dedicated circuit. Here is the link to the "Installation Guide" where you can find the "electrical requirements" on page 4 https://bit.ly/3AcOAPh We hope this helps!
