Hello Librman. The Ice Maker cannot be removed from this Whirlpool® Refrigerator.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I can confirm that the ice maker can be removed as I did it. There are 3 screws that attach the ice maker to the side of the freezer. The bottom screw needs to be removed. The 2 on the top need to be loosened. The ice maker can then be lifted up a little and pulled off. Then there is the electrical plug that connects to the rear wall of the freezer that needs to be unplugged. Before you start, pull out freezer door and baskets all the way. Use a small mirror to see the location of the screws. I did the removal without removing the baskets.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The icemaker can be switched off very easily. It does nit have to be removed. There is a wire lop swinging down from the icemaker. If you swing that wire loop back up all the way, there will be a little click like a switch and the wire loop will stay up. The icemaker will then be off.
