“The space I have to fit this width is only 28.5 inches I have walls on both sides. Fridge itself is 28 inches width. Do you think I will have problems opening the door? Do you see any other issues with the width being only 0.5 inches more than the fridge?”

Hi Kay, to ensure proper ventilation for your refrigerator, it is recommended to allow a ¹⁄₂" (1.25 cm) space on each side. Allow 3" (7.5 cm) of space between overhead cabinets and refrigerator top. Allow at least 1" (2.5 cm) between back of cabinet and the wall. If you are installing your refrigerator next to a fixed wall, leave enough space on the hinge side to allow for the door to swing open.Thank you for your inquiry regarding our Whirlpool appliances!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I just measured this model in the store, and it's actually closer to 27 7/8 wide. Also, realistically the depth is more like 26 once the various clips and such on the back are taken into account.
